Day 4...

Well...Corine here on the mic. Getting home from a game of pool on North Beach...half bar, half Indian food. Where else could you find that combo but in SF? Today is DAY 4. Meaning 4 days straight of dancing, creating, finding, playing with Emilie. It's been so far a wonderful journey and tomorrow we will be presenting our work at Theater Arthaud for what it is. Meaning a dance full of fun, expression, and openness.
This day began with a release/improv class...sorry to say I forgot the teacher's name. But she was a divey type, Mission street type chick from Seattle. Blond hair with bangs and double layered dance pants. She had us dance through the space feeling our skin, our muscles, our momentum, and our questions in our heads. Emilie and I walked out with red faces from runs, jumps, stops and falls and worked our way to the theater for rehearsal and photo shoots with G the gangsta who made a few poses himself.
Off to Cancun on 19th and Mission for a veggie supreme burrito with Kim and Marty and then a little more playtime at a park in North Beach...Emilie liked the swing the most.
So good night to all from the beautiful city of San Francisco, where the fog has taken over all forms of sunshine. Send us positive vibes for tomorrow, the big day...we'll be dancing for all of you!
ps: special dedicace et thanks to Katha, you're the best- M.

PEEPING TOMS

Today we took the very nice Chimene Pollard contemporary class, and came across the ODC dancers at the end of the class. Afters big hugs, we found the Artaud Theater to rehearse. The theater is an amazing place, it used to be a factory in the early 20th century with lots of church like glass windows inside.

Peeping toms could open the eyes of our "Carte Blanche to Carte Blue".

At the end of the day we walked on Haight Ashbury, I lost Gerald but I met in the Amoeba music store Joel, the Brian Jonestown Massacre tambourin man. We shook hands, talked about our respective performances. I will perform the 20th, he will perform the 22nd.
This city is magic. Em

AUGUST 16TH THE BIG DAY

This first rehearsal day was crazy.
A modern class to warm up at the ODC Dance School, a short stop at the deli to buy fruits and nuts for power, and ready to invent the " Carte Blanche".We had to stop around 3:30 pm because DJ FARI was waiting for us at the KUSF radio station. The radio show was "FRANCO FUN". We (Corine, Gerald and I) were interviewed in French and this beautiful 'DJette' (en presque francais dans le texte) passed only french music. During the show we talked about the performances, the creative process and Gerald's music and photos, and off we met each other in a very nice way. Really good moment.
At 6 : vintage shops to find costumes, and we got it now. So lets go working.

OH THIS IS NOT SAN FRAN

After 4 hours in a plane who doesn't want to fly, and 4hours more in a lane to find another flight, we finally slept in Frankfurt and lost 24Hours. Huuuu... But we met nice people like an old student of Martha Graham Dance School and a japanese teacher who's living in Tanger.
We arrived yesterday, and the rehearsal are beginning today.
Next step a radio interview at 4pm.
